Michal Engelman is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the director of the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study, and the training director at the Center for Demography of Health and Aging (CDHA). Engelman studies the dynamics of population aging and health across the life course, with particular emphasis on early and mid-life factors that influence health disparities at older ages. With training in demography, gerontology, and biostatistics, Engelman draws on theories and methods from both public health and the social sciences in studying the social determinants of health in later life.
